It’s strange to think that 299 blog posts before, I’d never written anything public. I was thinking earlier what would my 300th post be about, and then it came to me.

In the past three years, two of my closest friends have had children. Well most people do! No?

What’s special about my two friends is that, one is gay and one is a lesbian. Something which, I thought I’d NEVER see in my lifetime. People just like me, raising children.

How far we have come, and changing for the better.

There is a lot of talk by those to the right of politics and indeed religion about children born and/or raised by same-sex parents, in that they will grow-up dysfunctional and so forth. It’s those people who say it, who are dysfunctional.

The two children of my dearest friends are two of the most normal (whatever that is) children I know, no different to the ‘many’ nieces and nephews I have of straight different-sex parents.

As a gay man, I am PROUD and look forward to watching my friends children grow-up into intelligent young men because they are surrounded by nothing but love and even at their very young age are meeting people from all walks of life.

Today might be April Fools’ Day, but it is no joke that 3-years ago on this day that one of my friend’s son Ethan was born.

My 300 post, is dedicated to him. Maybe, just maybe, when he is 10 – I will be on my 100th post!
