I was minding my business earlier (as I do), when I had cause to walk past a Central London tube station.

As I did, an old lady sat in a wheelchair just outside was asking people for money as they trotted on by.

I said ‘sorry’ (meaning, I don’t carry cash anymore – who does?), and the next thing was her shouting at me… ‘pardon’ like a naughty school boy.

I then shouted “I said sorry” – as in, I’ve got no change. She then said in the same teacher voice “that’s better”.

Oh, how embarrassing I thought. It would have been easier to have had change on me.

My record shows that I love the elderly, BUT there was something ‘fishy’ about this lady? I mean, she was better dressed than me – and, clearly stood-up for herself – even though my crime was just not having any change on me!

I’m now going to carry loose change in my back pocket, purely for emergencies if an incident like this happens again 😮

I wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of her twice…
