New Forest… Rules!

Yesterday for his birthday, I took Alex to New Forest in Hampshire, South England and what an experience it was…

Since Alex and I have been together, we have spent much time travelling to far and distant places around the world, but yesterday showed us that we didn’t have a clue what was on our own door step!

You don’t have to go to the other side of the world, to have a great experience – Britain doesn’t do too badly.

We spent the day cycling on mountain bikes throughout New Forest, which appeared endless in size. It was like going back in time, a place untouched by modern times.

A place where horses, ponies and cattle still roam wild.

We had lunch sat next to a lake, which was very romantic (if you’re in to that sort of thing) and the spaniel splashing through the water whilst we were eating, and then coming up to us and shaking off, was fun too!

I think the highlight of the day for Alex, was me trying to cross a stream on the bike, and then getting stuck and falling of it. Not taking note of what just happened to me, he only went and did the same.

Despite having wet socks, shoes and trousers the day was still fun, as we continued to get lost amongst the many wild horses… very picturesque.

So, I think what I’m saying… if you’re ever looking for somewhere beautiful to go, try New Forest – its closer than you think. The locals were kind to us too.

Riding all day, left both Alex and I with sore bums (saddles are not what they used to be), but we’d do it all over again. We were shattered also, but it was all well worth it.

This has been a ‘View from the Bottom’ where I’ve had a great day, in the UK! Max x
