Happy Birthday, Mr. President

I ain’t no Marilyn Monroe (well), but I do want to take this opportunity to wish my old friend Barack Obama – the 44th President of the United States of America, a ‘very’ Happy 50th Birthday.

It may be the 5 August in the UK now (I’m up late), but it’s still the 4 August in the US, so Mr Obama’s birthday is still ‘alive & kicking’ for a few good hours yet!

I wrote last year for Outnorthwest Magazine of The Lesbian and Gay Foundation about how Barack was my Hero, in becoming the first non-white President – something of an achievement in America, and indeed the western world.

He inherited a country at war and one in a financial mess, which he is still battling with now and despite all of this I genuinely believe he is trying to do his best to make the world a better place.

So, with this I’m sending him and the first family my best wishes, on this his special day.

This has been a ‘View from the Bottom’ where Mr B is still my hero, Max x
